Nestled deep in the Texas Hill Country is a beautiful little town with huge passion for trees. From the idyllic town of Wimberly, Christine Middleton sent me a picture of the live oak in front of her home. “I measured the circumference of the trunk and it is about 9 1/2 feet. If I did the math right that means it is 3 1/2 feet in diameter.” Comparing this large tree with other massive trees, we can estimate the age to be over 100 years old, perhaps as much as 150. The actual age of the tree is secondary, of course, to the lifelong love exhibited for trees by people like Christine.
