It has been quite a wait, but hundreds of years of stoic patience has paid off for a beloved tree. Venerable Old Baldy has been┬árecognized by the Texas Historical Commission and added to the historical records. The tall guardian of McKinney Falls State Park, long a favorite of intrepid visitors, can now enjoy its well-deserved moment in the sun. Of course, when you are over 100 feet tall, you enjoy many moments in the sun. A lovely exhibit created by school children in the visitors center proudly commemorates the ancient giant.
