Close to the historic Pound House along Route 12 in the charming Hill Country town of Dripping Springs is the Founder’s Oak. This huge oak tree has been a meeting place for the people of Dripping Springs for many years. Dr. Pound’s home is now a well-preserved museum and reenactment center. The tree sits alongside several football fields and a hiking trail weaves walkers through the scrubby vegetation. Football is often the anchor of community life in Texas and the tree has no-doubt seen its share of town gatherings through the years.
