We All Go Home To Africa

We All Go Home To Africa

Africa is a place that belongs to all of us. No one knows for sure why we all feel connected to a place few of us have ever visited. Perhaps is the colorful images that made such an impression on us when we were young. Regal lions, playful zebras, elephants, and mysterious events like a safari all have a place in our childhood memories.

Perhaps the reason is something deeper within us. As anthropologists believe Africa is the original home for mankind, could it be that we are somehow genetically encoded to connect to this ancient place through hundreds of thousands of generations? It’s worth a thought.

Whatever the reason, any journey to this mythic land is memorable. A friend and her husband recently journeyed there and she shared some of the iconic images she captured. Chief among them is a impressive shot of a truly amazing baobab tree. The scale of the tree, coupled with the fact that it stands alone makes it feel like some fantastic setting from a science fiction novel. Oh yes, the fact that zebras are wallowing nearby doesn’t hurt. Enjoy these images from Africa, a place that belongs to all of us.
